Page Turners Book Club On April 11 the book will be Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. The time for this particular event will be 11:00 am rather than the usual time of 10:30 am. The book for April 25 will be Silks by Dick Frances.
This is a free event led by Julie Berg.
GED is no longer available at the library. Call the Texas Workforce Commission to inquire about location and time for classes. You may also request that HS library once again be a host location.
Gardening Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 2 pm. This is led by master gardener Tony Cates.
Preschool story time has returned on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. This is led by Shannon Perez. This is for 3-5 year old children or sometimes almost 3 years old. There is also a class for elementary aged homeschool children led by Jean Austin.

Attention ALL TEENS---- come to the library on Tuesdays after school and play Xbox.
"From Dirt to Dinner" is the theme for the free checkout of heirloom vegetable seeds through the library. You may check out six packages of seeds that include planting instructions. This is your chance to give gardening a try with very little to no expense for you! This is a joint project with the Cass County Master Gardeners!
DO YOU KNOW???? The library has a large print rotating selection of books--new titles every 3 months. TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the library on Monday mornings. Weigh-in is at 9:30 and the meeting is at 10:00. There is a small charge for this meeting.
The Library is participating in this statewide event to encourage communities to engage in challenging, insightful and transformative conversations. We invite you to come to the library on Thursday, May 16 at 6 pm. We will discuss the book A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman to open dialogue and explore what "knowing your neighbor" could mean within Hughes Springs. A part of the movie based on the book will also be shown. We will be serving FREE SUBWAY SANDWICHES to all who attend. BOOKS ARE AVAILABLE NOW. The annual FISH FRY is returning on the Saturday of Wildflower Trails which will be April 27. Fish with all the trimmings plus homemade desserts for $12 a plate. All proceeds go toward utilities and supplies for the library.
The library will have an inside the library EASTER EGG HUNT for children on April 16, 17, and 18 during regular library hours of 10 am until 5:30 pm. Children will be allowed to hunt for 8 eggs which will be filled either with candy or a ticket for a free book. A child may come for eggs once a day each of the three days.
STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) ACTIVITY DAY STEM is the approach that children are allowed to develop science concepts through prediction and experimentation. April 30 @ 4:00 for all children. This will be led by Shannon Perez and will be FUN!!! This will be a monthly event on the last Tuesday of each month.
"Brown Bag" Lunch The 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month! The cost is $5.00 and we will deliver to local businesses or you can pick up your order at the First Baptist Church CLC.
